Sarabande by Anonymous
Level Beginner
By the late 17th century the sarabande had become a stately and dignified component of the baroque suite, in triple time with frequent stress or prolongation of the second beat of the measure. It is curious that it seems to bear no relationship to the quick dance of the same name which in the late 16th century was banned by Phillip II of Spain of it lasciviousness. |
